So I'm completely reworking my neocities site. For some unknown reason I decided I needed a way to post updates. Not a blog, per se, but wee snippets so that my front page could get something fresh from time to time.

And that kind of meant Static Site Generator. I've used them before, but to be quite honest they almost completely fly right over my head. I never did find one that did what I really wanted (the equivalent of Server Side Includes, basically. Yes, I'm old), but I managed to get my head around 11ty, even if every time I go back to using it I have to look all the shit up all over again.

But of course I was using it in the simplest way possible. An HTML template, some CSS, and a few markdown files for the page content.

That shit is easy. This 'blog' setup is taking all my concentration. And it's a premade thingy. There was no way I was using it as is, so I've spent the better part of a day futzing with it to make it (sort of) work for me. And I still have a fuck ton to do.

Not least is the CSS. As I write this the page is more or less arranged how I want it, but it's still black and white and blue and purple. While I do love a bit of brutalism on occasion, I'm looking for something more fun.

So it'll be a while before the new site sees the light of day, but at least it won't be bereft of posts ;)
